This year's model boasts a stylish, functional, and rugged exterior, and quiet, comfortable, well-equipped interior. The 2020 Ram 3500 comes in five trims - Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited - as well as a wide range of available configurations.
Performance Features
Ram 3500 buyers get to choose from three engines - a 6.4L HEMI V8, a 6.7L Cummins I-6 HO turbocharged diesel, or a 6.7L Cummins I-6 turbocharged diesel. Depending on the power plant, transmission options include a six or eight-speed automatic or a 6-speed AISIN heavy-duty automatic transmission. All editions come with standard 4x2 drive but, all do have the option to upgrade to 4x4, as well. Ram makes this year's 3500 pickup in both short and long box setups and three cab configurations - regular, crew, and mega. The new Ram 3500 comes ready to haul thanks to a factory-installed class V hitch receiver and power, heated, manual trailer tow mirrors with supplemental turn signals and courtesy lamps (excluding Tradesman models).
Entertainment, Comfort, and Technology Features
This year's Ram 3500 comes with a well-appointed, tech-filled cabin. Keyless Go (push-button ignition), Electronic Range Select, and one-touch up/down driver's and front passenger's windows come standard on all trims. Dual-zone automatic climate control and leather upholstery kicks in on Laramie models and comes on all subsequent trims. Other available comforts include a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, an eight-way power driver's and front passenger's seats.
Chrysler's Uconnect 3 and U Connect 4 infotainment systems provide the sound for the new Ram 3500. Tradesman, Big Horn, and Rebel models get a six-speaker AM/FM UConnect 3 stereo system. Laramie models and higher get a premium Alpine system with 10-speakers, Uconnect 4, and Sirius XM radio.
Both Uconnect systems feature a 12.7-cm colour touchscreen that manages a variety of personalized vehicle settings along with the infotainment system. Using a compatible cell phone in conjunction with the UConnect app, Ram 3500 owners have the ability to remotely lock or unlock its doors, set the climate controls, and start their vehicle from pretty much anywhere. The Uconnect system's Bluetooth feature provides seamless connectivity for hands-free calling and music streaming. Both UConnect versions also work with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Siri Eyes Free.
Safety Features
The 2020 Ram 3500 comes with a good mix of traditional and driver-assist safety features. Advanced multistage airbags, power-assisted 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control come standard on all models. A ParkView rear back-up camera combined with the Ram's Parksense front and rear park assist feature (with automatic stopping) make getting in and out of tight spots a breeze. Trailering-assist features include trailer sway damping and Hill Start Assist. The Ram's Blind Spot Monitoring feature comes with rear cross-path, and trailer detection, as well.
